Illini & Purdue Take Open Challenge
and New Concept2 Model D ergs

Women’s Division: Illini RC

The Illini held the lead by 2.4 seconds over RowFit Chicago Going into the challenge relay. The Illini extended their time in the relay by 4.5 second to take the Open Challenge with a composite score of 16:14.7 over RowFit Chicago’s composite score of 16.21.6. RowFit Chicago can take pride, however, that their Event Record for CIRC’s fasted relay time of 08:11.2 still holds.


Men’s Division: Purdue
New CIRC Event Records established

Going into the challenge relay, Purdue held a 6.7 second advantage over the Michigan State. Although MSU beat Purdue in the relay by 0.1 second, it wasn’t enough to close the gap as Purdue won the Open Challenge with a composite score of 13:21.6 compared to MSU’s composite 13:28.6.

Worth noting is both teams broke established CIRC Event Records. Purdue broke the Lincoln Park Boat Club’s 2008 Open Challenge record by 12.9 seconds while MSU squeaked by to break its own relay record from last year by0.2 seconds.



North Suburban Crew & New Trier Take Youth Challenge

Women’s Division: North Suburban Crew

Going into the Challenge Relay, NSC held a 21.5 second lead over CTC. The relay was a fight with NSC finishing 02.9 seconds ahead of CTC to win the Youth Challenge with a composite score of 18:03.1

 


Men’s Division: New Trier

Going into the Challenge Relay, NT held a 30.7 second lead over CTC. The relay was a fight with NT finishing 01.8 seconds ahead of CTC to win the Youth Challenge with a composite score of 14:44.7.
